How are you handling the storm?

Trees snap like toothpicks or fly upward, wrenched from the earth. Whole rooftops sail, cars tumble like toys, walls collapse, and a mountain of water jumps the shore and engulfs the land. A hurricane cuts and tears, only solid foundations survive her unbridled fury. But those foundations can be used for rebuilding after the storm.

For any building, the foundation is critical. It must be deep enough and solid enough to withstand the weight of the building and other stresses. Lives are like buildings, and the quality of their foundation will determine the quality of the whole. Too often inferior materials are used, and when tests come, lives crumble.

Job was tested. With a life filled with prestige, possessions, and people, he was suddenly assaulted on every side, devastated, stripped down to his foundation. But his life was built on God, and he endured.

Avoiding Alcohol, Drugs, and Other Addictions Prayer

Avoiding Alcohol, Drugs, and Other Addictions

Lord, I pray that You would thwart any plan Satan has to destroy her (his) life through alcohol and drugs. Take away anything in her (his) personality that would be drawn to those substances. Your Word says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 16:25). Give her (him) discernment and strength to be able to say “no” to things that bring death and “yes” to the things of God that bring life. May she (he) clearly see the truth whenever tempted and be delivered from the evil one whenever trapped. Enable her (him) to choose life in whatever she (he) does, and may her (his) only addiction be to the things of God. In Jesus’ name I pray that everything she (he) does with her (his) body be done to Your glory.

The righteousness of the upright will deliver them, but the unfaithful will be caught by their lust.
Proverbs 11:6

Very Important... Please Read and Pray

Dear Brothers:

I come to you with a very serious situation that I need your prayers. My niece Amanda Gallagher who is 19 years old and only weeks away from graduating high school has been committed to a psychiatric hospital because she was going to commit suicide yesterday. Early this year she attempted it and we had her admitted then and we thought that things were getting better.

She has a very bad home life because my sister is unstable and after the first attempted suicide she had moved in and was living with my mother. The other night she just snapped and attacked her mother and then we found out from her friends that she was planning on killing herself and things went crazy.

She is a beautiful young girl that has no self esteem or sense of self worth because she has lived in an abusive broken home.

I am asking you to pray for her, that God may touch her life and that God will give me the words to help her and show her how much he loves her.

Where are you being fed?

ON MONDAY, ALICE BOUGHT A PARROT.

It didn’t talk, so the next day she returned to the pet store.

“He needs a ladder,” she was told. She bought a ladder, but another day passed and the parrot still didn’t say a word.

“How about a swing?” the clerk suggested.

So Alice bought a swing. The next day, a mirror. The next day, a miniature plastic tree. The next day, a shinny parrot toy. On Sunday morning, Alice was standing outside the pet store when it opened. She had the parrot cage in her hand and tears in her eyes. Her parrot was dead.

“Did it ever say a word?” The store owner asked.

“Yes” Alice said through her sobs. “Right before he died, he looked at me and asked, “Don’t they sell any food at the pet store?”
