ONGOING DISCUSSION: What do we do to obey Jesus' command to pick up our cross daily?!

Today at 4:18pm Edit Note Delete

Hi Phil,

Thanks for your response. First, let's look at your comments along side of Jesus' command:

Phil: "I FEEL LIKE THE FOCAL POINT OF MY CHRISTIAN WALK MUST BE THE CROSS OF CHRIST, NOT PHIL TAKING UP PHIL’S CROSS DAILY."

Jesus: Luke 9:23 And He was saying to {them} all, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up (HIS) cross daily and follow Me."

Luke 14:27 "Whoever does not carry (HIS) own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple."

Phil, we are to keep our eyes on Jesus. We can pick up our own cross and reckon ourselves as dead to the power of sin BECAUSE of the work Jesus completed when He hung on the cross and was resurrected! Jesus is the author and perfecter of our faith: Hebrews 12:2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

"I CAN ONLY YIELD MY BODY (SEE ROMANS 12:1-2) AND LET GOD DO THE REST."

Phil, I suggest that Paul is teaching Jesus' command of Luke 9:23 in Rom 12:1. Paul URGES his brothers in Christ to PRESENT "their bodies a ...SACRIFICE..." THAT IS PICKING UP YOUR CROSS! We follow Jesus from the cross, to the grave, to resurrection, to LIVING in the Holy Spirit. Glory!

Rom 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, {which is} your spiritual service of worship.

So, we have to take action every morning or we walk out of the house in the flesh instead of in the Spirit. The action we take is what Jesus told us to do: denying self, and then picking up our cross...present ourselves as a living sacrifice...reckon our self as dead... AND THEN asking our Heavenly Father to give us His Spirit so that rivers of living water flow out of our innermost beings.

Luke 11:13 "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will {your} heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?"

John 7:38-39 "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.' But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who be lieved in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet {given,} because Jesus was not yet glorified.

James 4:2 You lust and do not have; {so} you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; {so} you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask.

"You have not because you ask not." Phil and John and Tom, let's make sure we are asking every day!

Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another.

Blessings!

Tom

What does this mean?

Today as I read this verse John 15 I became confused? Please take a minute and read it with focus on the end and share with me what it says to you about what we are to be doing?

John 15
1. Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Tiberias. It happened this way:
2. Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together.
3. "I'm going out to fish," Simon Peter told them, and they said, "We'll go with you." So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
4. Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.
5. He called out to them, "Friends, haven't you any fish?" "No," they answered.
6. He said, "Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some." When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
7. Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, "It is the Lord," he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water.
8. The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards.
9. When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread.
10. Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish you have just caught."
11. Simon Peter climbed aboard and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn.
12. Jesus said to them, "Come and have breakfast." None of the disciples dared ask him, "Who are you?" They knew it was the Lord.
13. Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish.
14. This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.
Jesus Reinstates Peter
15. When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?" "Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my lambs."
16. Again Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me?" He answered, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep."
17. The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my sheep.
18. I tell you the truth, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go."
19. Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, "Follow me!"
20. Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, "Lord, who is going to betray you?")
21. When Peter saw him, he asked, "Lord, what about him?"
22. Jesus answered, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me."
23. Because of this, the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?"
24. This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.
25. Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

Customer Service

The 10 phrases from my friends at Walk the Talk are an illuminating reminder of how uncomplicated it is to make customers feel loved. People don't care how much you know, (or what you sell, or what type of service you provide) until they know how much you care!
The 10 most important words:
"I apologize for our mistake. Let me make it right."
When something goes wrong, most people merely want to be heard and acknowledged. So listen, apologize, then ask what you can do to make it right.
The 9 most important words:
"Thank you for your business. Please come back again."
Repeat customers cost less than new customers and are often more loyal.
The 8 most important words:
"I'm not sure, but I will find out."
It's ok if you don't know the answer; it's not ok to make the customer keep searching for it. That's your job.
The 7 most important words:
"What else can I do for you?"
Be prepared to go the extra mile, there is less competition there.
The 6 most important words:
"What is most convenient for you?"
Your customers will be pleasantly surprised when you ask what's convenient for them.
The 5 most important words:
"How may I serve you?"
This question reinforces your role in the relationship. Play that role the best you can.
The 4 most important words:
"How did we do?"
Feedback is critical! Your customers have a unique perspective and they appreciate being asked.
The 3 most important words:
"Glad you're here!"
Customers who feel welcome spend more time, more money and are more likely to return.
The 2 most important words:
"Thank you."
Basic manners... but how often do you get thanked when you're the customer?
The MOST important word:
"Yes."
Become a yes person.

These are so true and will help shine your light.

Then refused to fire the man under national pressure, but stood in the shadows, out of sight and let the man resign with a scathing letter to the media he claims "distorted" his positions regardless of it all on video and audio archived.

29. Unilaterally removed the defense system plan promised to Poland in exchange for it's help in Iraq and Afghanistan.

30. Refused to meet face to face with Britian's Prime Minister, Gordon Brown at the present G20 meeting, snubbing our greatest ally.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bloomberg: Daschle says, "Health care reform will not be pain free. Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them," while former Colorado Governor Dick Lamm says seniors have "a duty to die."

If this does not sufficiently raise your ire, just remember that the President, Senators and Congressmen have their own special gold plated health care plan which is guaranteed the remainder of their lives and they are not subject to this new law if they pass it.

This makes me sick and I share this with you because many people are blind to the truth and are being led like sheep to the slaughter. We need to First PRAY for our leaders and ask God to touch there hearts. Only God can change them, and we need to pray that he gives them wisdom. The Second thing is we need to take our heads out of the sand and when we have an opportunity to do something i.e. Vote, Protest, or share the truth.

A Shoe Salesman
TGIF Today God Is First Volume 1 by Os Hillman
Friday, September 25 2009

"Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'" Matthew 19:26
Dwight L. Moody was a poorly educated, unordained, shoe salesman who felt God's call to preach the gospel. Early one morning he and some friends gathered in a hay field for a season of prayer, confession, and consecration. His friend Henry Varley said, "The world has yet to see what God can do with and for and through and in a man who is fully and wholly consecrated to Him." Moody was deeply moved by these words. He later went to a meeting where Charles Spurgeon was speaking. In that meeting Moody recalled the words spoken by his friend, "The world had yet to see!...with and for and through and in!...A man!" Varley meant any man! Varley didn't say he had to be educated, or brilliant, or anything else. Just a man! Well, by the Holy Spirit in him, he'd be one of those men. Then suddenly, in that high gallery, he saw something he'd never realized before. It was not Mr. Spurgeon, after all, who was doing that work; it was God. And if God could use Mr. Spurgeon, why should He not use the rest of us, and why should we not all just lay ourselves at the Master's feet and say to Him, "Send me! Use me!"

D.L. Moody was an ordinary man who sought to be fully and wholly committed to Christ. God did extraordinary things through this ordinary man. Moody became one of the great evangelists of modern times. He founded a Bible college, Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, which sends out men and women trained in service for God. Are you an ordinary man or woman in whom God wants to do extraordinary things? God desires that for every child of His. Ask God to do extraordinary things in your life. Begin today to trust Him to accomplish great things for His Kingdom through you.

Follow up Post

Ephesians 6 says put on the full armor of God,

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist,

with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

Take the helmet of salvation

NOTE: These are all defensive tools

and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. The BIBLE

Is the only Offensive weapon you have and is the most important one in our daily battle if we are going to win.

To yield the sword you must first have one and then you must know it. The only way to use the power you need to spend time reading it.

As a brother, I want to encourage, no I want to beg and plead with you fellow brothers to take time to read the word, if it only a few pages a day, it can change your life and your relationship with the Father.
We are blessed to be called his son and friend and he wants us to draw close to him.

A friend of God

On Tuesday John spoke about how privileged we are to be friends of God and I was wondering how many of us are actually taking time to talk to him. We all say we do but this is accountability CALL to all Wildman. Are you in the word every day, are you spending time reading the bible and TALKING to God and more importantly Listening to what he has for you through his word???

I looked around at church the on Sunday and on Tuesday night and I did not see many bibles. If you do not have one you need to get one. If money is the issue you can go to GoodWill and pick one up for a few bucks.

Knowledge is Power and Gods Word is TRUTH.

Bible Study Today at 12:00

Join us Today at Great China Buffet on University and Lockwood Ridge at 12:00 for great food and great teaching. Today we expose the Enemy and share how to have power over him.

Luke 10:19
I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."

Prayer for today

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

In the Bible, David had all kinds of challenges. People lied about him, accused him, and tried to kill him. In Psalm 59 he says, "My enemies are coming against me like vicious dogs trying to destroy me. But as for me, what am I going to do? I will sing about Your power. And I will shout for joy for You are my refuge, my place of safety in my day of distress."

Notice, in David's time of need, he wasn't sitting around having a pity party and complaining. He decided to sing about the greatness of God. He was saying in effect, "My enemies may be powerful, but I know my God is all powerful. My obstacles may be high, but I know my God is the Most High." He wasn't talking to God about how big his problems were; he was talking to his problems about how big his God was!

Do you need to change your song today? Instead of complaining and thinking about what you're not, start thanking God for what you are becoming. Just like David, stay in faith and sing to the Lord knowing that He's going to complete what He's started in you.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
"Father God, today I choose to focus on You. I bless and praise You no matter what my circumstances look like. I know that You are on my side and thank You for always leading me in the path of victory. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

The Doors of Blessings

Though I may not get the quote perfect, you get the idea. "The huge doors to God's Blessings swing wide open on the tiny hinges of Obedience." I have been chewing on this meaty morsal all afternoon. One for the quote book, one for the heart and mind. So many times we fail to get the blessings our Father wants for us because of our disobedience. May I keep my own hinges fully lubed and the doorways clear so He may bless me as He wants, and I may proclaim His glory and grace.

RAIN DELAY

Honestly, how many of us where forced to slow down today because of the weather, and not just in our cars. I was wondering if all this rain was meant for me to "be still and know that he is God" or if His garden really needed the watering? Maybe a bit of both?

Great message

Anyone who has been a part of a discussion either at Wildmen or Real Men about the necessity of every Christ Follower to start his day by "going to the cross" and reckoning himself as dead in the flesh; and then to ask his heavenly Father to give him His Spirit so the rivers of living water flow out of his innermost being, and by this we are talking about the Holy Spirit; and have not resonated with this assertion for whatever reason, please watch the video at this link: http://www.worldinvisible.com/avlib/html_sermons/GOD

Ernest O'Neil has a whole series on this at his website.

The One Thing

Hello men, I am posting the notes from the talk I gave at Wildmen this past Tuesday. You can use this electronic copy as you see fit for your use or to send to others. May God bless and be with each of you.

Billy

Wildmen

The One Thing!

9//8/09

I. What is the One Thing?

1 Corinthians 2: 1 When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. 2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.

1 Corinthians 15: 1 Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures

Galatians 6: 14 May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

II. There is only one priority!

Luke 9:25 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?

III. What difference does this make?

1 Cor 6: 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Ø Marriage – love her like Christ – Eph 5

Ø Addictions - 1 Cor 6:12 .. but I will not be mastered by anything.

Ø Business – Col 3: 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Ø Language – Eph 4: 29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Ø Hardship – Rom 8: 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ø Materialism - Phil 1: 21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Emotional problems – 2 Cor 12: .. "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong

Follow up to my previous post

IN a previous post I talked about how God was directing me to talk to a previous partner who wronged me and I am still harboring ill will towards and even some hatred. I had forgiven him and thought that it was done but the segment we just went through about peace keepers and peace makers made me think.

Last night I wrestled with God about what to say to my ex partner because not only do I not what to do it but I have no idea what to say to him. It was interesting as I would play out the conversation in my mind and then get a response like: "that sounds a little condescending or that might make him mad and hang up". Well I still don’t know what to say but I am going to call him.

Today when I was walking the dogs with Angie I shared this with her, and when we came home I turned on my computer and while it booted up I saw a word document on my desktop that was labeled "guys" (I typically save documents that I am working on to my desktop) so I opened it thinking it was something I wrote to my team at work.

Please read it and let me know your thoughts:

I have been dealing with a Pride and Un forgiveness issue this past week and today I woke up and started reading a book by TD Jakes and it was talking about forgiveness and about how if you have un forgiveness in your heart it will hinder your relationship and walk with God. I then went to my daily bible reading and this is what it said:
27. "You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.'
28. But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.
29. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well.
30. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.
31. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
32. "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'
33. But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
34. that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
35. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?
36. And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?
37. Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Cancer Info you need to know about

AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY ('TRY', BEING THE KEY WORD) TO ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHNS HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY .

Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins:

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.

3 When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumours.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastrointestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumour size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumour destruction.

9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.

CANCER CELLS FEED ON:

a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in color. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk cancer cells are being starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer fighting properties. Water-best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines becomes putrefied and leads to more toxic build-up.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering.. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Florescence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the bodies own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit.. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, un-forgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

1. No plastic containers in micro.

2. No water bottles in freezer.

3. No plastic wrap in microwave.

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well. Dioxin chemicals cause cancer, especially breast cancer. Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic. Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital, was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body. Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food you get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons..

Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.

God is ready to help just ask

Last month has been the worse month for my business in years, so bad that as I write this I can not make payroll next week and this had never happened since I opened the company 5 years ago. I have been praying and asking God for help and he is delivering.... I am not sure what is going to happen on the 15th (payday) but I am confident that God loves me and he is in control.

Part of this epic journey he is taking me on is forcing me to clean out the old baggage and that is NOT easy. Today in my prayer time he told me to talk to my old partner and that is not something that I want to do because of what he did to me. WWJD comes to mind but walking the walk is not as easy as it sounds. This person is very mean and hateful so the thought of calling him makes my skin crawl.

Please keep me in your prayers,

Peter

This was in my inbox today and it really hit home and that is why I wanted to share it with you all.

The Spiritual Realm
TGIF Today God Is First Volume 1 by Os Hillman

"So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind. 1 Corinthians 14:15
How real is the spiritual realm? My lawyer friend from Nigeria tells a personal story of how he was preparing for an important case. He knew that he must be prepared to argue five separate points. He was to appear before his country's supreme court, so it was a very important case.

As he neared the time in which he was to go to court, he began to pray about how he was to argue the case. He spent much time in legal preparation and intercessory prayer. As he went to court, the Spirit spoke to him and said, "Do not argue point one, point two, point three, or point four. Only argue point five." Imagine my friend's struggle of faith. If he were reading this wrong, the shame and professional fallout would be devastating.

The time had come to present the case before the judge when my friend said, "Judge, I wish to withdraw points one through four. I wish to argue only point five." The opposing counsel stood up and objected. "Your honor, he cannot do that!" "Objection overruled, counsel," said the judge.

My friend went on to present his case around point five only, and then sat down. When the opposing counsel stood to present his case, he stood speechless for 12 minutes. He could not get a word out of his mouth. He finally mumbled a few words and complained to the judge that he was going to have to yield. It seems that the opposing counsel had prepared to argue only points one through four, but failed to prepare for point five. The judge ruled in favor of my friend.

The unseen Lord wants to help us in the physical realm of our work life. We must acknowledge His presence and tap into this incredible resource He has given to each of us. Seek Him today and ask Him to reveal His perfect plan for you this day.

Story worth reading

The date was July 16, 2008. It was late in the afternoon and I was sitting in my hotel room in Louisville, Kentucky. I was scheduled to speak that evening for the Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA). I was a little "down in the dumps." I hadn't gotten to exercise lately because of my traveling schedule and recently I'd experienced some mild bouts of vertigo (that inner ear condition that can cause the room to start spinning.) You got it...speaking and "spinning" are not good partners!

My keynote presentation was scheduled for 7:00 PM, but I had been invited to show up at 6:00 to see a performance they said I'd enjoy. Little did I know that I was about to see something I would never forget.

They introduced the young musician. Welcome...Mr. Patrick Henry Hughes. He was rolled onto the stage in his wheelchair, and began to play the piano. His fingers danced across the keys as he made beautiful music.

He then began to sing as he played, and it was even more beautiful. For some reason, however, I knew that I was seeing something special. There was this aura about him that I really can't explain and the smile...his smile was magic!

About ten minutes into Patrick's performance, someone came on the stage and said..."I'd like to share a 7-minute video titled, The Patrick Henry Hughes story." And the lights went dim.

Patrick Henry Hughes was born with no eyes, and a tightening of the joints which left him crippled for life. However, as a child, he was fitted with artificial eyes and placed in a wheelchair. Before his first birthday, he discovered the piano. His mom said, "I could hit any note on the piano, and within one or two tries, he'd get it." By his second birthday, he was playing requests (You Are My Sunshine, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star). His father was ecstatic. "We might not play baseball, but we can play music together."

Today, Patrick is a junior at the University of Louisville. His father attends classes with him and he's made nearly all A's, with the exception of 3 B's He's also a part of the 214 member marching band. You read it right...the marching band! He's a blind, wheelchair-bound trumpet player; and he and his father do it together. They attend all the band practices and the half-time performance in front of thousands. His father rolls and rotates his son around the field to the cheers of Patrick's fans. In order to attend Patrick's classes and every band practice, his father works the graveyard shift at UPS. Patrick said..."My dad's my hero."

But even more than his unbelievable musical talent, it was Patrick's "attitude of gratitude" that touched my soul. On stage, between songs, he would talk to the audience about his life and about how blessed he was. He said, "God made me blind and unable to walk. BIG DEAL! He gave me the ability...the musical gifts I have...the great opportunity to meet new people."

When his performance was over, Patrick and his father were on the stage together. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered for over five minutes. It gave me giant goose bumps!

My life was ready to meet Patrick Henry Hughes. I needed a hero, and I found one for the ages. If I live to be a hundred, I'll never forget that night, that smile, that music, but most importantly, that wonderful "attitude of gratitude."

I returned to Chicago and shared Patrick's story with my wife, my friends, and our team at Simple Truths. About two weeks later, I received a letter from a friend. He said, "Mac, I don't know who said it, but I think you'll love this quote."

"Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass...
it's about learning how to dance in the rain!"

I thought...that's it! We all face adversity in our life. However, it's not the adversity, but how we react to it that will determine the joy and happiness in our life. During tough times, do we spend too much time feeling sorry for ourselves, or, can we, with gratitude...learn how to dance in the rain?

It almost sounds too simple to feel important, but one word...gratitude, can change your attitude, thus, your life, forever. Sarah Breathnack said it best...

"When we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that's present....we experience heaven on earth."

THE ONE THING

What a great message tonight and I personally thought Billy did a remarkable job in being the messenger. Thank you Billy. I think I've finally gotten my mind around the verse "We love because He first loved us." The only way to truly love another person is to understand first; THE ONE THING. How could I pretend to love anyone on this earth not knowing the creator of love, the One who IS love. As many of you know my story, I tried for way to many years to love without knowing The One Thing. It don't work. We can fake it for a while but in the end we are so short of the mark and have missed out on the goodness and joy that we where meant to have, and have left in our wake a lot of people that we care deeply about wanting for more, hurting , and not knowing the love of God as they so deserve to know it. As I grow deeper in my own walk with God, I begin to see more clearly how I was on a Mission Impossible. I also am learning that the only way that I can show true love is to first have my relationship with God, and have it healthy. Everything good flows from that source, not from me. I think of myself these days as nothing more than a funnel, the love that I received and receive every day is all I have to give to others. I find it funny that the greatest gift I have ever been given is the one I want so desperately to share with so many. A never ending spring you might say!!! I love you Wildmen, and I'm so excited to see God working in so many men's lives. Can't wait till next week to get an update.

Spiritual Warfare

Spiritual Warfare

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Ephesians 6:12
My wife walked out of the airport restroom. She looked as if she was going to throw up. We were about to go through the airport checkpoint when we paused.

"I feel awful. It came on suddenly. I don't know if I should go," she said.

We were going on an overnight trip to meet with a workplace ministry about a possible joint venture project. It was important for me to have her there. But she was feeling so badly and would probably be miserable traveling in her condition.

"You may be right. Perhaps you should not go."

We were both disappointed. We began to transfer my clothing into my bag. We prayed together and I proceeded to the gate. I was disappointed, perplexed, and a bit angry.

"Lord, I don't know about this. If this is not of Your hand, I pray against it in Jesus' name. I pray for Angie's healing right now and I bind this spirit of infirmity."

I got to the gate about ten minutes later. As I was waiting to check in, I looked up and there was Angie.

"I'm going. I kept asking if I should go and a voice said, 'No.' I changed my mind three times. But I finally decided that I am not dead and I should be going on this trip."

We got on the plane and within a few minutes, the symptoms of illness were completely gone. The symptoms were a counterfeit. She was fine the rest of the trip. It was critical for her to participate with me because it became a major turning point in my own spiritual pilgrimage. She needed to experience what I was going to experience.

There is the spiritual and there is the physical. The spiritual involves two forces. One is good. One is evil. We must realize that the spiritual is more real than the physical. Satan has his agents in the world to thwart God's purposes. We need to recognize when these are at work. Pray that you might have spiritual eyes and ears to discern these forces today in your work.

Check this out!!!!

Guys:

Sorry for being MIA but the end of the month was tough and I have been focusing on peacemaking at home. I have been reading the Purpose Driven Life and it has been really making me think, if you have not read it you need to, it is great because it is 40 days and one chapter a night and most chapters are only a few pages so even I can do it.

This is a video of a 10 year old girl leading church today and it Rocks.

Timeless Truths

Hello men, the following is an outline of a lesson I taught on Thursday at the men's Bible studies. I was asked to post these notes so you could read them and reflect on them. Enjoy, be blessed and be a blessing!
God bless, Billy

Timeless Truths 1 Cor 8-12

9/3/09

1. Liberty must not be abused

1 Cor 8: 1 Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. 2 The man who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know. 3 But the man who loves God is known by God.

11 So this weak brother, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge. 12 When you sin against your brothers in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.

2. The strong adapt to the weak

1 Cor 9: 19 Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. 21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. 23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.

3. Live a Purposeful Life on purpose

1 Cor 9: 24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. 27 No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

4. Avoid spiritual smugness

Ø Warns us to avoid Israel’s mistakes

1 Cor 10: 11 These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come. 12 So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!

5. Strive for Unity in the faith

1 Cor 11: 17 In the following directives I have no praise for you, for your meetings do more harm than good. 18 In the first place, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions among you, and to some extent I believe it.

6. Spiritual Gifts are for God’s glory and the common good

1 Cor 12:24 ….But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
