Question

What does this verse say to you, I am struggling with it?

Phillippians 3

1.Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you.
2.Watch out for those dogs, those men who do evil, those mutilators of the flesh.
3.For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh--
4.though I myself have reasons for such confidence. If anyone else thinks he has reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more:
5.circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee;
6.as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for legalistic righteousness, faultless.

Thanks,

Peter

  1. Peter, this passage is about the Judaizers, men who tried to force Jewish rituals on Christians. They were demanding that the Christians should be circumcised. Paul was upset that they were placing these extra burdens as Christ had liberated Jews and Gentiles from this custom of the external mark of being God's people. The new mark of the believer is the circumcision of the heart - setting apart God as our Lord! Hope this helped but call me if you want to talk more. God bless, Billy

  2. And we still have many modern day Judaizers among us that we need to be careful of falling for their Jesus Plus demands. Believe, Repent, be Baptized...I think that's fairly clear and concise. Everything we need is in one instruction book and everything we do should be weighted with the bible as our scale.
