Getting started...

Hello brothers,
There are many views on baptism, confession, and repentance. Other denominations have various practices and methods of absolving their sin. I feel that all mankind has that need inter-woven within that seeks this, I believe it is the Holy Spirit at work in each.
Our Savior never sinned. He modeled, and when He did, He really didn't leave much to question. As Christians we are to follow Him in every way we can. This is how He got started in His ministry:

"In the beginning of the Gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
It is written in Isaiah the prophet:
I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him."
And so John came baptizing in the desert region and preaching a baptism of repentance and for the forgiveness of sins. The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. John wore clothing made of camel's hair, with a leather belt around his waist, he ate locusts and wild honey. And this was his message: "After me will come one more powerful than I, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I baptize you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.
At this time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. As Jesus was coming out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on Him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased." Mark 1:1-11 niv

If we are to be "mirror images" of Him, wouldn't we all long to walk in His footsteps? Your sin was washed with His blood at the cross. Your baptism is you being obedient, publicly professing your love for Christ, and raising to walk like Him. Left behind is your sin, dead at the bottom of the sea... Those wolves that hounded you are gone! I feel we should start-off like our Lord and Saviour did...

Bless you all!
Michael......
